The curriculum
What is the CAPS curriculum?
The CAPS (Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement) curriculum is South Africa’s national school curriculum, designed to provide learners with a structured learning pathway across school grades. It sets out what learners study, the knowledge and skills they develop, and how their progress is assessed.
At Regenesys Online School, the CAPS pathway offers learners a structured South African curriculum through online learning, with guidance and support to help them progress through their school years.
CAPS provides clear subject content, grade-by-grade learning expectations and assessment guidelines to support consistent progress from Grade R to Grade 12.
South African curriculum (NSC) enrolments are open.
Grades 8 to 11 start on 13 January 2027, every lesson taught live. Grade 12 will launch in 2028.

Subjects for each phase
Choose a phase to see what your child will study. Tuition is the same whatever subjects are chosen.
Subjects and subject combinations will be offered subject to demand and timetabling. If a subject or combination you have chosen cannot be offered, the School will contact you before the School Year starts and help you choose an alternative.

Where the NSC pathway takes your child
Two phases, from Grade 8 to Grade 11, all taught live. Grade 12 will launch in 2028.
The South African national curriculum (CAPS) for Grades 8 to 11, leading to the National Senior Certificate (NSC). Grades 8 and 9 build a broad base across 10 subjects. In Grades 10 and 11, learners focus on seven subjects, including three electives they choose.
Grade 8
Ten subjects, including English Home Language, Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Coding and Robotics, with Afrikaans or isiZulu as First Additional Language.

The second Senior Phase year, with the same 10 subjects, ahead of choosing subjects for Grade 10.
From R4 500 a monthGrade 10
Seven subjects: English Home Language, Life Orientation, a First Additional Language, Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, and three electives.
From R5 000 a monthGrade 11
The same seven-subject structure as Grade 10, with three electives from Commerce, Sciences, Humanities and Technology.
From R5 000 a monthGrade 12
Grade 12 will launch in 2028.

Tuition by grade
Tap a row to use it in the calculator- A R1 000 Registration Fee once, and a R750 technology fee each year, per learner, with the first payment.
- Whole-grade commitment: the lower rate for the full School Year. Pay monthly, per term or upfront; only upfront earns 5% off.
- Month-to-month is 10% higher and paid monthly only.
- Sibling discount: 5% off tuition for the learner with the lowest tuition. Discounts apply to tuition only.
- Optional Concierge service: R500 a month per family.
- Not included: NSC registration and examination fees, textbooks and stationery, a computer, internet and backup power.
